The reasons this Forum is so popular is the fact that we do like to have a go at each other. I'm with Baba Alax thou. You should be up fornt and not carry on like some lost MI5 sole.

This Forum thing was set up so we can all share information and views Confused - Some how it's end up being a show of a few leading men who want all the top billing and few lesser lights ( like me ) who hang around and get a small line in every know and then.

Perhapes it would be best for all if a few of our 'stars' left the building for a while. Rolling Eyes

Because 'f they knew me, then they wouldn't spread such rubbish gossip about me.

Just a few comments:

This forum is part of the Dave's ESL Cafe business and it is primarily a business.

Nearly everyone uses a moniker or handle or whatever you call it, so if you want to be up front then do so. The very fact that the forum is set up so that you can use a handle or your own name makes being up front an option.

There is so much unprofessionalism and petty vindictiveness in TEFL hiring and firing that I don't want to risk my job or future jobs by using my real name here. Scarred 2 put it much better if you want to search her posts.

If you want to use a forum like this then you have to put up with the frequent posters.

31, I dont see how posting your views on an open forum would hinder future employment prospects. In fact, i think the opposite is true. I have had job offers BECAUSE OF what i have written on these boards. I know you take the pi$$ out of me of for seeing tefl through rose tinted glasses, but I get job offers. How many people want to employ someone like you who continually slag off ex-employers. Employers dont want negativity in the staff room, and unfortunately that is all you bring to your posts.
lighten up, get positive and you may find that efl is not the doom and gloom you say it is.
lots of love

Job Offers:

I have been if TEFL almost as long as dmb and have never been out of work. There is no shortage of TEFL jobs in Istanbul or most other places. Of course the pay and conditions are deplorable but no problem with job offers.

TEFL employers want positive people and no negativity in the staffroom? Sure they do. They also don't want drunks, nutters, fakes etc. but they get all of those because they won't pay for decent teachers.

DMB complained when someone wrote his name here as if his initials weren't enough but then says it won't hinder future employment. The says employers wouldn't like my negativity-better use a handle then.
ET tried to find me when I first joined the forum so they could sack me. It still makes me howl with laughter to think of them going through the passport photocopies to find someone born on the 31st. Again don't use your real name.

TEFL employers like ET don't like what they read on these forums-great.

It's fair enough that you may want to remain anon. however as you can see I use my real name, and a picture of myself too, this is becasue I joined this forum to discuss life in Turkey, not to make comments that would put my job a risk. You, 31, use the forum as a tool to vent anger and frustration at the business, that is why you wish to remain anon. Fine no problem.

BUT wether my name is John or Alex is not the point, the point is you are making comments about me on these pages which basically put me in a bad light. I may try and get a job from these pages, I've PM'd both DMB and Mollie about prospective employment. Is it fair that everyone should be made to think I am some kind of phoney, that I make plans and don't carry them out? I demand that you come up with some more solid evidence other than the idle gossip of yourself and somebnody else that I haven't met.

I don't belive that I have met either you or faustino, I've only ever met one person from this forum, and that person is far too genuine to make destructive, slanderous comments about someone on a public forum.

PLEASE remeber that I have been on the telly and in the papers and everything.

Fair comments but don't forget that you also made some nasty comments.

I maintain that it is impossible for a native speaker to be unemployed here. ET will be absolutely desperate for teachers next month so you needn't worry about work. As for dmb I am sure that he wouldn't hold anything here against you.

The picture of you is fairly recent and I am sure your primary motivation for using it here wasn't to be up front. You don't use your surname or mention where you work.

I don't know who Faustino is so I couldn't say whether you or I have met him.

Rage and frustration in TEFL-too right.

My nasty comments were only directed at you after you wrote what you did. I have a very good job nowadays, but on reflection of the kind of idle gossip that goes on here it would be stupid of me to say where it is.
No I haven't put my surname up here, and the photo was ofcourse, to show how damned handsome I was so all the ladies know who they're talking to. But if I did meet anyone from this board, they'd know who I was straight away.
I know DMB would hold anything against me, he's far to intelligent for that, probably why he's so in with the moderators (only kidding), and quite frankly I know I could walk into any dershane and get a job anytime I wanted, sue to my international fame.

None of this, however, gives you the slightest excuse to write what you wrote. You don't faustino? You have no idea if he knows me or not? Yet you can take his word and treat it like an unquestionable truth, as though a conversation on-line is all the proof and back up you need to go round making inflammatory remarks about me?
You, I am sure, have criticised schools for spread rumours about teachers, or talking about them in a bad light behind their backs.

Critical thinking anyone?
