Very punny!

It's my favorite duck joke.

I almost got burnt out on ducks after my last hometown, whose uni's mascot was the duck, but as long as it's not ducks surrounded by forest green and special bus yellow it's okay. It's better than the other state uni mascot, which was the beaver. They always had some fringe Christian groups on their case for that one...

I wish I had a duck...

I don't understand that one at all.

It's not a very good joke...

The badgers, however, are way better than I ever thought badgers could be.

Ever seen a baby badger? They're really cute.

To be honest, I've only seen them on TV but they do indeed have stripes on their faces. I find badgers extremely cute, though, like polar bears, their cuteness is deceptive for what nasty, foul-tempered creatures they actually are.

On the cuteness scale, baby badgers are up there with baby tapirs (I saw one in the zoo once), at Too Cute To Exist.

(I just tried to past a photo of a baby tapir, but realized I don't know how to do that...)

Sounds complicated. It can be googled.

Do you suppose they've added 'google' (V tr) to the OED yet?

My homeland's official mammal is a beaver. My family raised ducks
(and chickens) when I was a kid.

Can I join the Oregon club as an auxiliary?

Yes, Yaramaz, you can. Pacific NW is as good as Oregon (or is it Pacific SW if you're in Canada?)-- it all starts to be the same after awhile. Oregon, too, has the beaver as its official mascot, which is why it's known as the Beaver State, despite rumors that might be out there suggesting otherwise.

For the Oregon thread, I suggest we discuss the following topics:

1) Vegetarian or Vegan?: Who rapes the world's natural resources more, and how you can use righteousness and platitudes to convince others to think exactly the same way you do. Also, in what ways do carnivores' dietary habits contribute to violence against women, racism, nuclear war, general malaise, and tooth decay?

2) Political Correctness: No matter what you say, you're gonna offend someone. How can educated middle-class white people use language in a way that properly assuages their guilt?

3) BC Pot: Cheap, high-quality kind buds for all, or a menacing threat to local growers?

4) Tree-sitters: Can anyone besides themselves justify their existence?

5) Soap: Even bio-degradeable soap contaminates our rivers, lakes, and streams. How do you explain to Turkish students why hippies aren't horribly ill?

6) Jerry Garcia: What mystical thing happened to you on the day he died?

7) Dreadlocks and White People: Where did we go wrong?

But of course, any topic is up for discussion, except 'Why saving the Spotted Owl turned out to be a big fat waste of time' and 'My bellybutton fluff.'

And apologies to Baba Calsimsek for hijacking your thread. We're still happy about your baby...
