i would have to recommend chile to both of you. (the first and last poster). as a woman, i have experienced FAR FAR less of the catcalls, horn honking and passerby "preciosas" down here. chilean men are very polite gentlemen most of the time--most chileans are very respectful, and this trickles down to their respect for gringas, too.

for the first poster, this is only my experience, but i have lived in japan, ecuador, and chile, and chile is the first place that i have actually been able to imagine myself staying. the opportunity for english teachers is absolutely BOOMing, life next to the beach rocks, and there is very little wall or space between chileans and foreigners. if you can learn to speak their crazy spanish, i think you could become completely assimilated into this culture (not always an easy thing).

just my opinion. my boyfriend (whos been here the whole time with me) would probably not agree.
