Did your friend who works at the Saudi embassy actually tell you how long you have to stay outside Saudi? Is it 6, 24 or 36 months? |

Ok..this is the latest.....
The person at the embassy didn't mention the time so I called back the next day. By the way, according to the lawyer that writes every Saturday in the Arab News, it's 12 months if you insist on leaving and he needs you. He also mention that if the employee gets rid of you and has no need for you then there is no waiting time at all and you are free to move onto to another employer....however, he also and almost always does, give you a final exit before you can even start to look for another employer!
So as I said, I called back the embassy in London and spoke to someone else, he said (and I was suprised) " The rules about 6,12,24 months are old and out of date! All we want to know is do you have a visa waiting here for you and the relevant paperwork to submit? If you do then it's our job to make that happen and thats all there is to it! There is no time factor!"
I said " Are you sure because we are talking about somebody who has no letter of no objection?" He said, "Yes, I heard you the first time and I hope you heard me!"
That was it....madness as usual and contradictions all around! |

Don't complain because that is fabulous news!
Incidentally the Saudi Embassy in London is very helpful and very efficient; any problems will almost certainly come from somewhere else. |

But my worry is can we really believe it? I also have found the Saudi Embassy in London to be great and that includes the Saudi Cultural Bureau where those working in the Min of Higher Ed. have to get their cert's attested. They are suprisingly helpfull!
I wonder if anyone has any local info on this issue? |

Any update on the LONO issue?
I am thinking of leaving my current job and might not get the letter. |

A friend of mine has just quit his contract with the Ministry of Education KSA and has also got the NOC. He says he's to take on his new job (on the visa issued by his new employer) before the start of September. (He is flying to his home country at the start of August)
Is it really possible to re-enter KSA with a new visa within such a brief span of time? No 6/12 months outside KSA?
Secondly, his NOC reads:
"The Ministry has no objection if this person is hired for a teaching job again."
Enough to make the way for a re-entry? |

You can come back in a week on a new visa if you have an NOC, like your friend has. |

Do they use the acronym "LONO" anymore, or has it been replaced with "NOC?" Or does it matter? Am I just behind the times? |
