and Merida? Everyone ok?

Lots and lots of extra rain here for several days, but there's nothing that I can see for damage. Recent repairs on my roof held up okay. No water leaked in. Didn't even lose power or phone service in my neighborhood. Yesterday was a normal day here for this time of year: sunny in the morning, clouded over in the afternoon, and rained like a SOB for a while in the evening. Looks like today will be a re-run of yesterday.

Speaking of roofs and rain...

I moved into a house with a hole in the roof covered with corrugated plactic (long story, don't ask). I called to get it repaired and was told not to worry as it would be hard for anyone to get up onto the roof to break in. Shocked All I could think of was ummm...what about the rain?...sure enough it started raining that week and I can home to find a literal waterfall coming down my stairs and out the front door. Embarassed

I can't imagine how all of you on the coast are holding up.

On this part of the Oaxacan coast it has been quite mild. We got maybe a full day of moderate rain, that's about it.Today it's been hot and humid as usual.
The local municipality, howevver, managed to somehow get itself declared an emergency zone. Maybe we'll get some funds to repare the dirt road that's washed out where I live, but that happens every year...

We've had a lot of rain here but in the little town where I live we missed a direct hit. I think it went by on the other side of the hills. Still lost power for about eight hours and schools were cancelled for a day or two, but it could have been a lot worse.
