Oh really it is such a terror
When one gets a critical error
While trying to post
for the impotent host
can't handle the load of the bearer. |

An EFL teacher named Cholmondeley
Once spoke to his students quite holmondebley,
Saying I shall retire
And sit by the fire
Since you spend all the class sitting dholmondeley!.
(For the information of non-Brits like me, "Cholmondeley" is pronounced for some perhaps inexplicable reason as "Chumley")
In advance, I apologise. |

I teach in Japan all day long
To girls in short skirts and a thong
I stand there and stare
What do I care?
But others on here say it's wrong |

There was a young teacher called Sue,
Who said lyings so easy to do
So if I said young
I was biting my tongue,
And crossing my fingers too |

There was a young teacher called Sue,
Who said lyings so easy to do
So if I said young
I was biting my tongue,
And crossing my fingers too
Sue pursued a shoemaker named Stu,
And slipped on a shoe, one or two.
When her shoes didnt fit,
She stewed quite a bit -
So Sue sued Stu so starting anew.

Our recent bereavement gave me some inspiration,
When Dave's went down for the day,
We realised we had feet of clay,
We cried and we mourned,
For we had been scorned,
And our tempers they all did fray.

There was once a gnome
Who scampered off to Rome
With naught but a backpack and a cell phone.
He sought the lifestyles of the rich and famous
But found Italian TEFL wages ridiculous
And so, after much sobbing
He resigned himself to Korean cooking. |

Ode to Bangkok by Kent F. Kruhoeffer
I've noticed a disturbing new trend
The longer I'm here the more I spend
But a man with no wife can afford such a life
So why should it all have to end ? |

I've just done something of which to boast,
For this is my three hundredth post,
I've written some crap,
And the odd short rap,
But my limericks I am proud of the most!

Ok then, perhaps we should make it more difficult; Petrarchian sonnet form, perhaps? You know the sort of thing, I'm sure you all did Ozymandias at school.
I met a teacher from an antique land,
Who said, .... |

I have no clue what that means but can still shoot my mouth off.
Who said, sonny is this Japan
Or am i stuck in Kansas with a dream again?
I tried to reassure,.... |

I'm not quite sure our work is exactly up to the standard of Shelley... But who cares, I'm willing if you are!
As I look around at this fair city,
Down it's wide avenues and quiet streets,
I am struck by the need to write a ditty,
Praising up its beauty to the skies,
I wander far, I wander wide,
I snack on croissant and brioche,
I see the Seine when it's at low tide,
I climb the Tour Eiffel,
There are so many things to see and do,
Museums, shops and galleries,
And of course there is the Louvre,
Even with winter coming fast,
There is action everywhere,
This city was built to last.
Wow, ok so it's total crap but I'm well impressed that I churned it out so quickly! Who's next?

Are syllabic sonnets acceptable or do you all demand metre? It's just that I couldn't find a good dactyl... |

When the muse hits, you've just got to post! Any and all submissions are acceptable.
Be it short or long,
Please enter a song,
You'll feel you'll belong,
You just can't go wrong!

I started a little thread
Musing about dementia and heart attacks
Put it in the context of the milestone of degeneration I reached yesterday
And now I look and still can't find my wee post in Dave's stack of hay.
'Tis quite a profession
Where everything is done at the last second
But I'll be sure to bring home the bacon
Lest I'm forced to move to Macon
So this is my world and welcome to it
A river of uncertainity runs through it
But 'tis what I chose and I knew
That my chances of ever getting social security blew |
