Have you ever been upgraded or "bumped up"? I have - 3 times!
Though not from fighting or nasty behavior!
A friend of mine was about to be bumped up in Singapore, but when they saw her boyfriend's grubby attire, they decided to upgrade someone else! |

i would but i need to get into stansted.. not heathrow or gatwick cos theyre an absolute nightmare. stansted is much nearer home n much less congested. Turkish Airlines seem to offer the cheapest fares from damascus to stansted; approx $540. other airlines quote in thousands of dollars. nuts !
thnx for the comments. i think i'll take it.

| Only 540 dollars which is half what the others are charging and it goes to the airport of your choice and you post a thread about whether the food etc. is any good. As if a TEFLer is in any position to take any flight except the cheapest. |

| Basil -- Turkish Airlines is one of the more reliable ones in Turkey for domestic flights (compared to Atlas Jet for example) which is why it is more expensive. If you ask me, it is TOO expensive. You can find cheaper flights to the UK with Air Italia or Lufthansa. Check some online websites and if you have a credit card book it online. Found some decent prices, like around 150 pounds. |

So, I want to go to Madeira for the x-mas holiday and i will be flying from Ist. So far all the flights I have found are ridiculously expensive and LONG. I mean, does it really take 9 HOURS to fly to Portugal????
Please, anybody, give me some suggestions of other airlines that might fly from Istanbul to Portugal DIRECTLY. |

| I like TA a lot! They are not fussy about excess luggage, good aircrafts, nice service. |

I have similar views. I've been using only Turkish for travel for the last year and a half or so; both between UK/Syria and UK/kazakhstan.
I have had no complaints, and if you have to transit, Istanbul's airport is as good as any to get left at for a couple of hours (despite the snacks/drinks being ridiculously overpriced). IMHO, it is also very efficient. If only it could provide some sort of public internet cafe/service in the depature/arrival area.
Turkish are also good for flying back to or from the Uk cos they dont only fly into/from one UK airport. They offer Stansted (pefect for me personally), Heathrow, Manchester.
best

Basil, say good things about TA- they still won't sponsor Colchester Utd. |

I flew home last Christmas and went with Easy Jet. Also booked my flight back to the UK this summer and got it really cheap and ı am flying from Adana- Ist-Luton-Glasgow. 120 pounds return. Also pegasus fly to Stanstead now. A friend bought a ticket for 61 pounds one way!
Easy jet start taking bookings for christams from August! |

I have often used THY but my argument about using them from Bahrain is the timing of the flight
03.00
Yuk !
Otherwise no complaints. Good way to get from Gulf to Western Europe or USA. With stopover in IST |

| I think next time I will try the Turkish Airlines flight into Otopeni (Bucharest). Closer to Chateau Scot47 than Sofia is ! |
