Hey Seth --

You said you were from Indiana. Did you come with the U. of Memphis program? I know it had some connection to Ball State this year. Anyway, I'd say GET OUT OF INDIANA!!!! It's enough to depress anybody, with or without a job (just showing my prejudices!) Wink

Oprah -- My parents have really been on me to start thinking about retirement. I'd never thought about the fact I wasn't putting any money away in social security. My family has encouraged me to look for a job with the foreign service or with a multinational company that has operations in China. Another way to get security is work for a foreign university that has a program in China prepping students to go to their school. There are a ton of British universities that give people a salary in British pounds to teach, arrange visa and stuff for students who are enrolled in some sort of "top-up" program at their school. I'm sure there are American universities that will do something similar, but I don't know where to find job listings for them. Sad Can anybody help with that?

I AM a bit burnt out with my university here, and with China, but nearly all my friends back home are out of work, even people with professional and science degrees (the only person I know with a good job is a writer, believe it or not!). I didn't see a lot of American jobs I was interested in applying for, in places I knew it was safe to live. I did send out some applications, but didn't get any replies. Anyhow, I do like the life here, and it's better to earn like $9,000 a year here than earn nothing in the US (or am I wrong about that?!?), so I'm staying another year.
