gmat, yeah the air quality is probably not as bad as Shanghai, but in the south of China in the winter they don't need to heat their homes and thus have no coal fired plants, so I would say in winter the pollution here ranks right up with the best of them. The wind does carry it away, but not everyday. It also looks plain ugly here in the winter. Also I come from the West coast and Pacific Northwest and it was still really, really cold here. Of course this is probably a biased statement because I had to keep my windows open in the dead of winter, long story on that one.

As for the street food, they have little shops on the streets that sell some types of "street food", but it is not as good as other places. Near Da Wai Foreign Language University you can grab some street food, like buns, bings, and meat on a stick. Most of the city does not have vendors with carts selling food during the day, but there are a few places to go at night to find some street food. If you are looking for the good street food that cost 1-2 yuan at all times of the day, you are coming to the wrong city. I understand you would be upset, I love that food too and I was really disappointed when I got here.

There are plenty of little food stalls. Go to the beach and they make tasty fresh sea-food on a grill with great corn bread. The price? next to nothing!!!!!

If they are serving the baozi, dumplings, noodles, and other stuff that I can't find on the street elsewhere, like bread stuff, meat sticks, and bings then where is this place? I am not talking about a small restaurant either, but good foodstalls?
