I think Brad brought up a very interesting point about foreigners living Japan. True, you can't learn the language overnight but you have no excuse to not imply other sources to read your mail. Get your Japanese friend to help, ask your employer, do whatever. If this is too demeaning for you, then you made a very wrong decision to live in a foreign country. Be grateful you're not an Asian immigrant moving to where I'm from -Montreal- who has to learn two languages(english, french)!!!
It's very lame to blame a language barrier to allow you to not follow protocol. You're giving all us other foreigners trying to coexist peacefully a bad name. Just pay your taxes.
Have an excellent day. Inform yourself and stay positive. |

Interesting how things can get so preachy so quickly on this web site. I`m going to get things sorted down at the tax office shortly. Thanks to those who posted information regarding this.
As I stated in a previous post, I have no issues with a small business owner (my American Language School franchise owner) doing whatever he can to make a bit more money. One major issue I DO have with the guy is that he didn`t pay me my year end bonus after I completed 12 months of successive employment with him, as was agreed upon in our contract. THAT stung a lot more (American Language School franchise not paying out a bonus owed) than the franchise owner breaking the tax laws.
Thankfully I was able to escape this situation and secure more agreeable ESL employment in Japan. Thanks again for the info., guys. |
