Come on Doha must be wonderful !

You may have crazed Islamists there but at least, unlike Riyadh, they are not driving around in GMC Suburbans laden with explosives !

They don't need explosives for their GMC's. Their driving alone causes enough damage.

Can you sleep well at night BW? Too much silence

Tell you what BW. Go down the local in Doha and bore the other boring EFL teachers and assorted pond life with your stories about Beckham gleaned from the News of the World.

One writer asks why not much has been said about this place, truth is, as much as the teachers complain at QAC itself, they do it amongst themselves. It's a very depressing place to work. Teachers do nothing but complain, mind you with good reason. The place has gone to the dogs in the last year and a half when Queen Rachel was placed at the helm. But eone can not blame her totally, Malachy has shifted his responsibilities to her.....She has no professional teaching qualifcations, nor management, therefore no skills in either...so we should forgive her...and one need not go to Malachy for anything, including a job, Rachel takes care of everything....if she's in one of her moods (which is most of the time) then not to approach. There is a lot of backstapping, gossip, tension, among teachers and co-ordinators. This is not a place for professionals. Students get away with everything...the funny thing is, Rachel tells teachers not to let students get away with anything, to mark them late or absent when need be, one does and she does a u-turn in support of students right in front of ur face. this is one small example...Take my word for it, it's a miserable place to work. But as they say, misery loves company...so if you're depressed and looking for more, then QAC ...the QWAK factory may be the place for you... Laughing
As far as housing, very small, claustophobic flats in pakistani ville. don't forget, we are talking about one of the richest countries in the world, and they've put teachers in slumville. But if you're on Malachy's flavor of the month, he may allow you to live as a cuple (unmarried, in Muslim country, shame, shame) in one of the bigger flats,as well as pay the living allowance to one of you, so u get the free flat, plus the 1600 rental allow...you may want to go there with a friend and use it to ur advantage. But just be sure you're the flava'. I could say much more, and will answer any questions, I was there for 2 years, so think I can give a good perspective.
