I can recommend the Buckland Group as a recruiter that is reputable and tries to help the teachers in every way they can.
They offer new and inexperienced teachers free orientation, which includes free lodgings and food. They select schools where they feel you will be happy and will have an enjoyable time teaching. They have many school locations in China so you will get opportunities to travel and really get to see the real China.
I came to China with an open mind and not expecting to live in 5-Star accomodations. Sure small problems happen but usually they are insignificant. The hydro goes out occassionally, getting used to a squat toilet. living with people staring at you all the time and hanging your clothes on a line to dry. These are things that you will experience here. This is China and that is what you must be prepared to accept. You will not live the same way you did back home. China is a developing country and not up to western standards. But having said this life is very comfortable here. You will make enough money to travel and feel very rich compared to the most Chinese people. You must be willing to be flexible and go with the flow.
If you have any problem at all the Buckland Group will-and I emphasize will-be there to help you. Any problem with your accommodation, school, your pay or even personal problems, they will try their best to make it right and see you happy.
I recommend the Buckland Group to anyone looking for a job teaching in China .
I have had the most fantastic year of my life and I owe much of it to Bucklands and to the wonderful people of China.
Remember, what you put in, you get out!.

And remember, Owen Buckland's motto is, "Promises cost nothing."

We now return you to your regularly scheduled fantasy.

Li Da for marketing manager!
Recruiters take out some 'leg' work, but if you experience problems with your school I doubt they will be around to help. Most of these recruiters FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN do not connect you very well paid jobs i.e. less than 5000 RMB.

Roger the attacks on you are knee jerk reactions . Wo you say the right thing and they lambast you with insults . I guess it is that time of year when folks want to get back to teaching and being barred from Dave's frees up a lot of their time .

It's been interesting to hear the attitudes to agencies on this board. Many of the opinions are fair, some are biased and some are idiotic.

It's no secret I handle the hiring of foreign teachers for New Times International. Honestly, in the year I've been with New Times and the two months I've been doing this precise job, I've had overwhelmingly reactions from teachers and schools thanking us for doing the vast majority of the legwork and being present when either the teacher or the school had a problem.

I have never dealt with Buckland thus I am not competent to discuss their business tactics but it seems to me that the few good agencies get lumped in with the majority of bad ones. Yes, we make money from hiring foreign teachers but above all else, we aim to provide consistently secure and friendly working environments for all our schools. Unlike many posts on here, some agencies actualy do have competent and conscientious staff who do take care of their teachers and cancel a placement if they catch but a whiff of something dodgy from the school. We do not take a penny from our teachers and aim to provide a useful service.

Demonize us if you want but demonize us fairly.
