I am wondering if they have decided to market their jobs to Indians, Moroccans, and Ivorians...

THAT was a one racist comment... Not just white ass ppl can teach English

i;m disgusted
Each and every time some one brings up nationalities, a loser has to popup out of the hat and scream racism!!!

Anyone criticizing a gay mans purple slack is immediate accused of gay bashing, anyone stopping by the road for assisting a woman with a flat is accused of sexual harassment, and a county is being sued for refusing a school bus driver job to a 300 pds fat biatch, which is now suing the county for discrimination... Well the fat pig does not fit behind the steering wheels and can barely climb the bus for crying out loud!

Get over it; it is ok to talk about blacks, homos, Indians, muslins, and other things...!

Some of us having to payback students loan have do it in US$ or CAN$ for example...

It sounds to me that coming to China with a mentality like, I am so smart and educated therefore I will work for little to nothing, because those people are miserable is a big fat joke.
In under 10 years, unless a monetary crash, block out, or revolution, China with a trade surplus of $101.9 billion in 2005, will pass the US if keeping the same pace...

There are FT in China, teaching 6h40 minutes par week, living in a fully furnished, 1 tenant apartment, with a salary of 8000RMB.

Why others should accept jobs like 20 hours teaching in a shared apartment, for 2600RMB?
Dont you think, Applicant has an MA TEFL/TESOL/TESL degree plus a few years teaching experience overseas should get more that 2600RMB ??

I tell you what, one of my 25 years female student, which will be graduating in July with a MA in world economy, will start her first ever job this February.
She will be teaching (16 hours) economy to senior High students located in a small HS on the outskirt of the town, with a salary starting at 5000RMB (without apartment)

When I read:
We offer the following to someone who has a master degree or PhD: --A monthly salary of RMB 3,500----3,800 yuan;

I say:
Some of you are desperate...

Speaking about the majority of Ivorians, Indians and Moroccans dudes... pppeeeeellllssss, dont get me started about their commitment, assiduity, professionalism, experience, ...
Those folks would work for a third of what we need to survive back home...
The greedy Chinese merchants are aware of that fact, and use it to their own advantage.

Despite of quality and accuracy, schools are shifting now to third world countries to teach English, and that was my point to some of you sorry ass losers...

What the hell is an Ivorian? Somebody that comes from Ivory? If you are prepared to work for peanuts, do so. The people on this forum all work for RMB10000 but they are all good teachers. No losers here. Now lets all pray to Mamon....................

Probably less time than that considering the way things are going. The US seems to be starting to take notice of the situation, too, in an ohshihit kind of way.

Considering who has been posting over the last 4 replies, I would just LOVE to have an Ivorian as a colleague!

NOt because they work for less - but they are less antisocial and less conceited than those posters just mentioned.
DItto for Moroccans or Indians.

And most of them have no debts to repay - a great plus, in my humble opinion!

They get better and better Laughing

Actually after reading this post its me who starts to feel humble - why don't I know so much about personal debt management on the Ivory Coast - and I wish was so adept at measuring the social qualities of differing nations - then again some people appear to be so race-conscious (did I spell that c word right this time R). Laughing

What I dont really understand is how someone would only wish to work with an ovarian - sorry silly me Im getting all tangled up in tubes - Ivorian - on the grounds of he doesnt want to work with others who really are viewed as unacceptable. That kind of hints, that while the author is first class, the poor ovarians are second, but those darned posters are most certainly third - but I'm sure it wasn't meant as such - just a little language glitch Laughing

Before I go I would also like to say - ditto for the Indians and Moroccans - maybe a little yupeee as well - when I was first in china in 87 I met a black American student - he was having a hard time here. Things can still be hard for certain ethnic groups here, but maybe not on the scale of back then, so I believe, with regard to certain aspects of racism, things are slowly getting better - but I suppose part of our job here should be to blast away the kind of generalisations that are made about particular ethnic groups - whether those generalisation be almost innocent guffaws regarding personal banking habits or of a more sinister racist nature, after all the name of todays game isn't just acceptance but also respect.

Yes, there's Korea. If you look at:

http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea

..you'll see 523 job ads posted in the last month, many of them advertising multiple positions. Almost all include housing, airfare, bonus and a salary of around 2000 USD a month. If money is your prime concern, there's no reason to be in China.

FOR EXAMPLE, I RECEIVED THIS FEW MONTH AGO:

"ESL Teaching Experience 8;
International Baccalaureate, MOdern languages;
Degree: 1) Aghro-Technicican; 2) Certification TEFL;
Country of Nationality: South Africa;
Summary of Qualifications Secondary education: majored in 4 languages;
Tertiary education: Linguistics (6 years);
Personal Statement: With 8 years of teaching in Hong Kong and Guangdong to my credit and great enthusiasm, I wish to serve anyone who has a need in coaching, teaching or training in English, French or German, preferably on a part-time basis."

Pretentiously bold to advertise teaching German and French, when actually one cannot speak their basics correctly...

"Debts to repay?" Well... some have REAL diplomas... as they have learned from accredited Universities, for periods varying between 3 to 6 years...

"but they are less antisocial" I heard about someone having to live an underground life in GZ, because of his persisting censures and bullying on the WWW ...

My original post had no business intended, what so ever, with my salary. Again, I am amongst the luckiest here, trust me!!
I was humbly emphasizing the fact that Chinese Universities and HS schoolS, are farming their jobs to third world countries teachers, because they can cut the salaries by half... And this to the detriments of quality and assiduity... I trust!

Now, answering those narrow-minded viewers:
Would it be a personal money matter, I would have never resigned from my employment back home, to start with...
