| A point of order. I have worked in Universities in Saudi Arabia, the Uk and the UAE without an MA. I have a TEFL Diploma and a lot of teaching experience. It is true that many universities in the Middle East are expecting an MA as a minimum requirement for a university post but sadly do not expect a teaching qualification as well. The system in the states dictates that in order to teach ESL you should have an MA. The British Council for example, does not recognize an MA as a qualification to teach in its centres (alone). If you want to be a teacher then surely you get at least a CELTA (or equivalent) as a building block and some basic teaching techniques. |
