WHY would anyone stay 5 years just to get a Letter of No-objection (also known as No-Objection Cert)?
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that some people are tolerating what they see as an obviously hellish situation, just for that?
As they say in t'north of England, "there's nowt as funny as folks"!
If you leave KSA without an NOC, you can return in two years in any event. Some embassies stipulate three, but this is just ignorance of the law, and they usually relent when it is pointed out.
Not that Bebsi would ever directly advocate such a course of action, but there are other ways around the problem too!! Not that the authorities would ever condone or accept it either, of course |

Actually, the one thing the law doesn't say is two years. The period is either six-months, one year or three years depending on the circumstances.
It may have changed with the new labour laws. |

Mea Culpa, Stephen. I was thinking of ONE year...but, yes, I have heard THREE years bandied about as well as six months. I am led to believe that it is now a year, but used to be three years. No-one seems to know for sure
It is a moot point, as very soon the whole law in this regard is likely to be changed, eliminating the need for NOCs. |

Yes, but you forget one detail... a new law on the books doesn't mean that anything changes. There will still be those that continue to do as they always have done... or not done as the case may be.
