Rain,
How well do you know the person you say you trust? My condolences of you consider them a friend, because no friend would offer a friend this kind of deal.
Pretty much any kindy or buxiban job feeds you lunch. That's no perk in itself. Hope you like unrecogizable entrails and tiny fish with the heads attached.
Your salary sucks. Please consider that to get out of this job and to move into a new place, you'll have to put down two months rent as a security deposit. You won't be able to save that on your income. You WON'T. You'll be a slave, hon.
Eating is not expensive in Taipei. I got into the restaurant habit a little too heavy, and decided to discipline myself to spend as little money as I could on food for two weeks to see how much I could save. Look, you can buy a package of tofu for 9nt, hard boiled eggs are 7nt each at 7-11, you can get a breakfast sandwich for 20nt, you can buy a meat bun for 15nt, you can buy all kinds of tasty bread/meat/cheese concoctions for 20-30 nt. So, food is the least of your worries.
Consider this: If your contact is screwing you this bad on pay, imagine what else they will do. I wonder if your ARC will be at the actual location where you work? I wonder if they will tell you you have health insurance when in reality they aren't paying it? Will you get your tax refund? I wonder if they'll switch your location from Taipei to the middle of nowheresville, nothingland? They've got your ARC and your apartment - what are you going to do about it? All of these things are possible and have happened to other people.
Be glad you found out here. Now, take a deep breath, and go browse the job ads. Go educate yourself about what a good job offer entails. You'll get one. I know people who are happy at Hess.
You'll get to taiwan sooner or later. Relax. |
