Hey all,
Any other types of shirts that you see people wearing a lot at ECC? I'm thinking-wool turtlenecks (nicely pressed black ones to look businessy) or anything? Does everyone wear these button up shirts everyday? I just got hired with ECC and have absolutely NO dress clothes (currently an MA student who does all her work in her pj's! haha) so, I'll be heading on a great big shopping spree. What should I get? Shoes?

did you get the email about dress codes yet? if you have, read through it, it tells you the minimum you should bring over.

i would recommend that you bring a few long sleeved shirts, a few short sleeved shirts, a suit jacket, couple pairs of dress pants, a coat for winter... plus all your casual clothes for your days off.

i get the feeling the dress code is pretty standard business attire... this means suits. shirts and ties. you know the drill.

oh. and not too many bright colours either. i heard that the japanese people are used to the traditional black and white suits.. other colors like grey and brown are ok too, but not brightly colors stuff.

The most practical thing to mention, which I forgot, was that make sure whatever you are wearing to work is breathable and cool. Schools are HOT! Japanese people seem to have a high tolerence for stuffy and hot indoor climates and classrooms can be unbearable. So while business attire is the way to go, make sure it's light fabric and breathable (cotton, etc.). Show up in a wool suit and you'll be in for it - even in the winter.
