Thanks for your reply thrifty, I got back from Oludeniz a couple of weeks ago, just there for a week to catch up with a few turkish friends who work there during the summer months. I have been to kayakoy (I think that is how you spell it!) which is great. What an image all of those empty houses in the village. Do you mind me asking what you didn't like about Oludeniz?

Did you go down to Gemiler Adasi? I walked down from the village and it is one of the best walks and views I have ever done. Also walking down from Oludeniz to the village.

I found Oludeniz to be way too touristy. All the prices in English and the food in the cafes was poor compared to real Turkish food. Too many Brits. I went there in last month and the season had barely started and perhaps that was part of the problem.

Do you know much about the Lycian Way-the first long distance signposted walk-it is my aim to do that one day.

No I didn't do that lovely walk you mention, I feel a bit cheated now! I know what your saying about Olu Deniz the more I visit the more commercial it is becoming, there are some lovely places to eat but you have to know where to go, they aren't obvious.
One of my faves is The White Dolphin restaurant, with its sunset view, it's set into the clifftop with nothing else surrounding it. The best seafood I have ever tasted.

Did you go to Saklikent Gorge ('hidden city' in Turkish), it's the countries longest and deepest canyon, you can wlak a few kilometres but then you need a guide. You can also camp there or hire a treehouse, it's great fun. The bus from fethiye takes you there for a few quid.
Butterfly valley is lovely too- you can also camp there. Do you know it?

Butterfly Valley is lovely. I, er, took the bus to Fehiye a few weeks ago (cos I'm just a poor, poor tefler! Very Happy ) and went to the valley for a week. I really didnt want to return to the madness of Istanbul after that. Lovely! We read, swam, slept, played scrabble, read, swam, ate, read, drank tea, hiked... Brilliant!

Travelling by bus makes me feel like a loser.

In English we write ''after all'' as two seperate words.

Sorry about yesterday, Rachel. I was in a bit of a mood. I had a look at that awful English girlfriends site the other day, and it made me get my claws out.

Oh, man, isn't that site just a train-wreck? It causes me to lose what little faith I may have in the human race.

Worse is the number of women on there reproducing!

It was very very scary....worse than losing faith in humanity, it made me realize what fools my fellow sex can be. I had to close the site before l started abusing people.

crikey that site was a bit of an experience!! One I won't repeat again in a hurry. Some of those women are bonkers! any man that looks at them sideways they seem to jump on and marry and they make such a big deal out of everything! I keep my fingers crossed for the babies!!

Shocked I hadn't even thought about the poor children. Let's hope that the men run off before any babies pop out.

My Aunt was here last year, and she was telling me about her best friend's younger sister, a lady in her mid forties. Anyway, the said lady went to Seluk and fell for a man half her age. She bought an apartment building and car and put them all in his name. Basically, she spent all of life her savings. Well, after about six months, he kicks her out of the apartment and tells her to get lost. Everything is in his name, so there was nothing that she could do. She left here in October last year with not a penny to her name. She had to use her father's credit card to buy her ticket home. Apparently she hadn't really learnt anything as she laughed and said it was all a fun experience. She didn't seem to worried at all...A bit of an odd fish if you ask me.
