There's more than one bus and has been for some time. Seeing as you don't know about them I'm interested in your assurance of 'much more comfort'. Not.
I clearly stated the info was not mine and that the site had more details but maybe you missed that. |
Look, why quibble? I acknowledged quite gracefully that you have filled me in about where the bus from Shenzhen leaves; I am sure I would have found it by myself since I take my bus to my home from the exact same bus station (not the other one near the exit of the customshouse). I also noted many times that buses to Shenzhen are advertised in Yangshuo.
But I still maintain that travelling by train is more comfortable; that is my personal choice of transportation and will remain so in the face of the ongoing war on China's roads.
I don't believe many people prefer sitting in a tight seat or lying on a bunk for 16 hours between two destinations; this is why travelling on a train is much more comfortable: you have more legroom, you can actually walk up and down the length of the train, and you can wash your face and hands en route and dine in the dining car or drink in your compartment.
Last time I took a bus to Yangshuo was from Shunde to Yangshuo, a route in parallel with the route from Shenzhen to Yangshuo until Guangzhou, then the same road. The driver was desperate to get passengers and settled for 60 kuai per person (we were two). The regular fare (published at the bus station) was 150 kuai. The ride was largely uneventful and no accident happened; however, since the bus wasn't full the driver dropped us off 20 kms shy of Yangshuo; we were then herded into a local bus. The driver paid our fare on board that bus. There is nothing wrong with this experience except that it shows how unpredictable it can be; it was in winter and inside the bus we froze because there was no heating (or the driver didn't turn it on). Under the circumstances we were lucky to make it to Yangshuo in 12 hours - distance: 700-odd kms. |

Why indeed? Just continue to refute knowledgeable posters instead. |

Exactly.
You peddle misinformation to those seeking advice on the back of your huge post count. Please check the "Looking for a good bank" thread on the Off Topic board for your latest howler. |

You are becoming obnoxious with your pedantery, SM. I haven't "peddled" misinformation at all - neither in the bank thread nor here; in both cases I have stated in unambiguous terms that I was talking of my own personal experience.
And in this threwad I actually said I had learnt something new. Still, it beats me how someone can gcllaim buses are more comfotable on a highway between Shenzhen and Yangshuo than trains on their tracks. And as for false information, I ask you to clarify when you paid 8 kuai for a Guilin to Yangshuo bus trip.
It wasn't this year, was it? |

I've taken that bus from Shenzhen to Yangshuo.
Then road was bad and the ride was uncomfortable...and scary-at-times
China's agressive/suicidal drivers--especially on the "highways"--
reveal the massive unconscious-yet-visible SHADOW
in the Chinese male Psyche.
I prefer trains whenever possible.
I'm back to Yangshuo for the summer.
Look me up... |
