Same to you with brass knobs on. So there !
If you are going to flinging abuse, why do you not fling it at the people who are cheating teachers instead of the ones who are complaining about it. |

Tee hee - very funny.
But, there is nothing funny about hiding from the Indonesian police.I would not want anyone else to go through the same experience. This is a serious matter and should not be a subject for petty bickering. |

OK....Once and for all....
The school in Jakarta does not have an IH affiliation. The assertion by Mr Fitzpatrick that it is an IH school is incorrect. This is why IH in London are not in the least bit interested. It has nothing to do with them.
I would also add that he did not quit.....he did a runner, and an odd one at that.
It must have been horrible to have problems with the police in Jakarta, but it must be added that this man's assertion that he is a "very good" teacher is open to interpretation. A good teacher, I would think, depends on stability, dependability and team work as much as anything..no? |

I was working in IH Malaysia before they sent me to Jakarta. They said that it was another IH school. I was employed by IH and paid in Ringitts in both countries.
The school in Jakarta has the IH logo and a map of the world showing all the IH schools. They tell the students that it is an IH school.
London IH may be interested in this - things are worse than I thought.
As for doing a runner: the contract does not require a period of notice if the teacher leaves before 3 months - I was 2 months in Kuala Lumpur and 1 month in Jakarta. Not that it matters much as I was illegal in both countries.
Revealing these details is not going to make me popular with some people - especially those who are breaking the law. You can slander me and threaten me all you want, I will not remain silent. |

If you had read my previous message you would have seen that there is definitely a IH school in Jakarta. I took the job because no-one replied to my post requesting information about IH Jakarta. What was wrong with the school is that they employed me illegally - both in Indonesia and Malaya.
Neither myself nor other teachers will be intimidated by any threat of being blacklisted. Do your worst - I do not care. |
Why would you not have done further research to determine whether the schools were hiring you legally - either in Malaysia or Indonesia - before you accepted either position? It just seems to make sense to ensure that one is being employed legally. |

Yes I agree with you 100%. Even though I did post a message looking for information on IH Jakarta (but it seems now that there is no IH Jakarta.) I got no replies. No wonder ! No-one had heard of IH Jakarta.
Because IH is such a large international organization I suppose I only half beleived the post about teachers working illegally in Malaysia. Anyway I paid the price.
So it seems that I was working illegally in Malaysia for IH Malaysia and illegally in Indonesia - also for IH Malaysia. If this is confusing for anyone reading this, beleive me, it is even more confusing for me.
If you saw the "IH school" in Jakarta you would certainly think that it was an IH school. IH Malaysia told me that they were sending me to work for IH Indonesia. I was paid by IH Malaysia and they also paid my airfare to Jakarta.
I had only wanted to complain about working illegally. I may not have complained at all if the police had not come to the school. I may now have opened a can of worms for IH Malaysia. Oops ! What a pity ! |

Apply tomorrow, allow a month for the visa and you could be back wherever you are in complete disgrace by the end of August! |
I don't think this guy is familiar with visa applications, otherwise he wouldn't be teaching his lessons on the roof |

Below is an exact copy of any information sheet that I was given by
IH Malaysia before I left for Jakarta. Please note: International House Jakarta at the top. IH Malaysia is telling people (myself and others) that the school I worked for in Jakarta is an IH school which is not true.
(I can send a copy of the original which is on official IH Malaysia
paper to anyone who wants it.)
