| Of course, you are not doing advertising for The Boland School in the process. |

Mitaphor singular and decidedly unmixed.

petergunn, I'm sure Roger will thank you from the heart of his bottom for helping his ESL learning.
And congrats on 4 months without getting the boot: a PB? |

And he's not even a native English speaker.
The bar is low indeed. |

| Quite a number of "native speakers" seem to be in conflict with English spelling - "mexing mitaphors". Maybe a little moxibustion would help that crick in the neck. |

Poor Roger. Most of the "native speakers" recognise a "spoonerism" when they see one!! |

| CELTA is recognised internationally, but the timing was wrong when I needed to do it. I did the Boland course and, having spoken to my friend who did CELTA, believe the course offered at Boland is equivalent. The Chinese schools are not fussed about the difference. |

Where does this '101' come from btw?
I know what it means of course, but what is its history I wonder.
Anyone? |

university (at least, american university) course-numbering systems?
or do you mean prior to that?
also, back to the point: op, there are plenty of other foreigners in suzhou (some on these forums, even), and you'll certainly find them if you're looking. surely you'll spend time with the other students in your program, and if that's not enough, try to hit up some of the foreign restaurants or bars on shi quan jie, like the aussie-owned pulp fiction and the ever-popular scarlet. it's been a year since i lived there, so i'm sure other places have opened up, but that'll give you some orientation. |

And plenty on other forums as well. In fact there is one Forum which holds an annual "Conference" in Suzhou. PM me for details. |
