My friend and I signed a contract with this school for the upcoming school year. I also went through Angelina's Cafe. We are being paid 4,000 RMB a month plus 250 RMB additional allowances. They pay for airfare, travel, apartment etc.

My friend and I both just graduated with BAs in English. I have minimal teaching experience (tutuoring at Middle School).

I was pretty aprehensive about this job at first. I read all the varying opinions on recruiters on these board. I was contacting schools directly and going through recruiters. After a few of failed attempt to get contracts at other schools decided I decided to sign with this school through the recruiter. I suppose you can say I was on the rebound, but the job seemed to meet all of my criteria relative to my experience- location, pay, workload etc.

I did all my homework- I researched the recruiter, the school, talked to current teachers etc. and I could not find any red flags. I saw pictures of the apartments (from a teacher's online photo album) and they appeared clean and modern.

Since I agreed to sign the contract I have been contacting the FAO office at the school directly, but the recruiter has still been helpful. For example a fax to the FAO wouldn't go through so I faxed it to the recruiter and she passed it to the school.

Seeing this thread actually makes me a little nervous because it raises a lot of questions. I am still pretty confident that this job is legit and hopefully I made the right decision.

Any thoughts? I do not want this to be a recruiter debate, I just want to know if I missed anything.

Thanks.

If you are happy with the decision you have made, then don't have any second thoughts. Don't worry about what others say.
