We get much more than that at our school, which, by the way is a very nice school with good resources and great staff. This weekend I got to Jalan Jaksa from our teacher's house in less than 1 hour on Saturday night.

Also, check any Indo narkoba/polisi programme on the TV and Bekasi is ALWAYS up there for busts.

Our house is in a secured area in a secured complex in a nicer5 area of town, it's no less unsafe than Jakarta.

What do you have against our little school? It's a quiet school of only 4 staff members, that I, and the other three teachers have really enjoyed our time at. Why don't you concentrate on your school and leave the innocent alone and stop spreading harmful rumours!

You must be new to EF Bekasi KJB. Ask around why the franchise (ex) director, Liliak Setiawan, lost his central Java schools owing to his less than honest dealings with employees/teachers.

Also, I'd be putting pennies in the bank account now cos they won't pay you your airfare, you'll be fired a month before the end of your contract.

Wake up and smell the Kampung. It stinks in your neck of the woods.

Our franchise has four teachers that have taught here for at least three years each, that has to say something about the 'dishonest dealings' that have been going on. If they weren't happy, i'ts not hard to find another job in Jakarta.

Unless you have personally worked for this school, under our current director, what basis do you have to make these claims? Three of our teachers are currently ending their contracts this week and have been compensated FULLY everything that they were promised by their contract. The only teacher that has been fired at our schools was fired because of complaints from students.

All I can smell is the satay cooking next door. It sound like you have some kind of a vendetta with this school, from saying that we have bird flu, to changing your tune saying this school is a shithole. Why don't you come for a visit and see for yourself what it's really like here. I'll even buy you lunch.

If anybody is interested to find out what our little school is really like, please contact me. I'll tell you the truth.

If you had actually read my post, you would have read that yes, Bekasi is a dump, but where we live in Bekasi, less than a twenty minute walk from Jakarta, is quiet and quite safe. It's a nicer neibourhood than most I've seen in Jakarta.

I stand corrected.

You must be right, and I am wrong.
As is my wife and her family who hail from Bekasi.

I will tell them so.
Thanks.

KJB, I note, with some concern, that you neither confirm or deny the truth behind the fact that the director of EF Kemang Pratama (Bekasi) physically assaulted a female staff member.

Also, I have never, in my time of contributing to this forum, ever come across any EF staff member prepared to defend their 'operation'.

Only DOS's who have exhausted traditional recruiting methods and are desperate for staff because their attrition rates are so appalling.

Anyone interested in learning about the bird flu outbreak in Bekasi should refer to The Jakarta Post for the month of July. Anyone interested in the facts behind this shady franchise of EF schools are welcome to PM me.

Enjoy your satay KJB.

the facts behind this shady ef franchise???? theres nothing shady about it. i was once an employee there and had no problems. the director is not a bad guy and certainly did not assault any female employee. i was there for that "incident" and truth be told, NOTHING HAPPENED AT ALL. it was a very disgruntled employee who, for whatever reason, created this fictitious event. is bekasi a dump? yes, in many ways it is but the school and the area that it is in are quite nice. for kjb to say that he could only smell the satay was a bit much but this whole city/island/country has a bit of a smell to it so i wouldn't consider the smell issue to be all that important.
i enjoyed my time working there( bekasi and kalimalang) and know that those that i worked with( many of whom are still there) also enjoy it. i can't remember any situation during my years there that goes along with some of the things that are being said in this thread. paps, i totally respect your opinion, along with all the others who have voiced theirs, but without sending you a pm, i would like to know where you got your " facts" from..... and no, i am not an ef DoS trying to salvage a schools reputation.

All I know is 2 things:

1. The Canadian girl who was punched by the director of EF Kalimalang is my best friend. Disgruntled? Yes. But wouldn't you be if you had a bunch of fives in the face from your boss.

2. When I worked there I was stolen from, lied to and abused to such an extent by the Directors/criminals that all three of the satellite school teachers striked.

It takes a lot for a school franchise to be repossessed by EF Head Office but this network of schools had that happen to it.

Now ask yourself, do I see myself wanting to sign a year's contract with these dudleys?

....what can i say??? if she wasn't a close friend of yours, but was a former co-worker then there is no way that someone else could have been lying. i guess it HAS to be me that is lying.. i don't know how this happened. happy_me, i hereby vow to spend more time looking inwards at myself to find out why it is that only i lie and nobody else ever does. sure, i wasn't the angry employee who ended up signing an " official" ( if you can call it that, it was only a typed document with her signature at the bottom..... worthless really) letter apologizing for HER actions at the time of her dismissal...and this was only done to avoid possible ( and judging by her actions, justified) penalties that could have been brought onto her by ef..... oh wait...these must be more lies i'm telling.

come come, lets not be naive

This thread reminds me of the staff I met at Sunter in my short-lived EF days. Posing as adults, they were a bunch of bitching kids. Nice to see some things never changes.
