I actually think that Sanchong makes a very good point and exposes the vulnerability in the misinformation often presented here about not accepting work from overseas and not dealing with recruiters per se.
Go to any jobs website and you will see schools and recruiters looking for teachers. Go back to the same site one month later and you will likely find the same schools and recruiters looking for teachers. Go back again six months later and you will see the same familiar names again and again. There is generally a reason that these companies are constantly looking for teachers and that is generally not good for teachers.
By researching positions and aligning yourself with good quality companies (be they schools or recruiters or both) before you arrive, you are best preparing yourself for your arrival in Taiwan. Research is the key to finding a good job here and having a trouble free entry to Taiwan - not whether you go through a recruiter or not.

First off you don't need to be a paying member to check out www.buxiban.com to see if a recruiter has a good rating or not. That, along with most of the information on that site is free, just as it has always been. The only thing you need to pay for is access to the reviews and contacts for schools if that is a service that you feel is beneficial for you.
I think that it is a shame that you make the comment that you made here Ki especially since I have already discussed this matter with you privately.
As we both know you have been using that site regularly since its inception years ago, so obviously you found it of value otherwise you wouldn't have used it so regularly. As per our private contact I respect your right to forgoe using the site if you don't want to help support the site through the payment of a membership fee, but I find it a bit disappointing that you do not seem to respect our right to ask the people who use our site to cover the costs of maintaining that information online. I fail to understand why you think that your fellow teachers (the admin of that site) should pay for it out of our own pockets if you find that it benefits you. |

Thanks Ki, I did not know that recruiters would still be able to get away with this today  , with the internet you'd think people would do a little research.
Buxiban is the only site of its kind in Taiwan that I know of...take care!!  |
