Not exactly sure to be honest. Its the (s)expacts that I was really refering to (esp from a certain forum). Seems to be a lot of western women bashing..but Im not interested in forming stereotypes and I'll see when i get there. If it happens ill just need to learn to take it in my stride.

man..half the time I dont know how to relate to the average women either (cosmetics, nails and soap opera talk in great depth doesnt really do it for me (although im still partial to a little girly talk  ) ), western or otherwise, and i am one! so i dont blame the poor guys. lol. But seriously, I guess there is always difficulty in relating and understanding dif cultures. I think it may be difficult for asian guys because of the pre-determined idea that western women are brash. Actually, i guess a lot are..certainly in comparison to general asian females. I think a lot of western women can make some men feel emasculated (even on home turf) unfortunately.

just read up a lot, and balance out the good and bad. Best to not go thinking it will be paradise as its hard for any place to live up to that. Keep your expectations realistic and then it just may turn out to be paradise for you after all.

As for your last post, people seem to love tasteless jokes. Modern arena i guess. Not a lot to say about that. To be honest, not reading up much more on the case, so dont know a heck of a lot of detail. But i do know he apparently confessed to her murder (dont know in what circumstances tho) so in that sense i have a lack of sympathy. If he was accused rather than a confession i would share your sentiments. Again, i stress, i dont know in what circumstances he made this confession, but sets off warning bells in my head.

There is, without doubt, a very embittered sub-group of Western male expats in Thailand. Whether it's a small % or not I do not know. These are not nice people and it is advisable to avoid contact with them, so far as possible.
Amusingly, these same men like to complain about being "used" for money when their relationships with local women fail. (As if there would ever have been a relationship without the money ... )
I feel these guys are ripe for a feminist epiphany . Help the women become educated (and yes, some of these men are "teachers") and self-sufficient and you can take the money out of the equation.  |
