I think it would be good to get in touch with a doctor there anyways, if only for gynecology (pap tests) related purposes. Would also be helpful to know what sort of pills you could get in an emergency and couldn't wait a week.

i found it easy to find a nice, english-speaking gynaecologist. (good to know if you ever need the morning-after pill). i have heard that japanese docs are more likely to prescribe the pill for western women (who are apparently irretrievably sl.utty anyway) than for japanese women, but i don't know for sure.

Probably not helpful to most of you, but if you are going to Korea for any reason or know anyone here...

We get them for around 600 yen a pack, no prescription. Just go to any pharmacy and ask for Mercilon.
