Furious,

Oh, I guess I was a bit vague. The only market for these languages is likely private tutoring. I've met quite a few foreigners who are interested in Latin and Greek studies, and two who can teach those languages. Could be that medical students want to learn those languages, too.

Tokyo's go it all.

Wrong. You're the one...as usual. Stay on topic! Don't you, Jon Taylor, have something better to do?

Indeed quite dead, which is why I gave up on pursuing such languages...I am more interested in capitalising on my French and more specifically my German...and after reading the advice here, yes I have to condense the CV...and I was not being rude, merely calling a spade a spade in the case of canuck...there are numerous canucks out there for every country you can think of...anyway thanks all for the advice concerning the CV...D

People make me laugh. They really do.

Someone posts a resume on an anonymous internet message board and then seems surprised when others laugh at it.

Calling a spade a spade? Rolling Eyes
I said edit your CV because it's full of fluff. (so have others)
I said edit your avatar because it's too big. (so have others)
I said watch for spelling mistakes, and proved it, even though you usually spell university like this: universit?.
Are you a native French speaker and German speaker? Capitalize on what? Yes, you were being rude and you're the one that looked like the Jack-of-spades. Rolling Eyes

The only thing you were right about was:

Hate to say it, but your resume just screams Big Four to me. If I'm reading it correctly, you have a BA, a C.E.L.T.A., and overseas teaching/living experience (mostly as an exchange student in Europe). What I don't see: 1) teaching experience in Japan, 2) a Masters/PhD, 3) Japanese language ability, 4) publications/presentations. In other words, while you are (over)qualified for eikaiwas, you have nothing special to offer as an ALT in Japan and are very underqualified for university employment. Finally, regarding your fluency in German and French, it is pretty easy in Japan (especially in Tokyo) to find native speakers possessing the same academic qualifications (or more). Hence, and in opposition to TokyoLiz, I really don't think you'll find even part-time work teaching those two languages (private tutoring might be an option, but again they'd prefer native speakers).

A year in an eikaiwa would certainly improve your chances--particularly in regards to ALT positions.

Finally, people give Canuck a hard time, but he is among the most realistic and honest posters here. If you'd rather have the Capper-type posts about the thousands of people earning $100,000+ US without degrees and passing Level 1 on the Japanese Proficiency Exam with just a little study on the side, then so be it. I prefer Canuck any day.

I was trying to be constructive. I gave him suggestions on how to improve! Laughing

Obviously Deicide wanted to impress the eslcafe public with gigantic, often sought after English teaching qualities as, "Icelandic (basic knowledge)" and, "Good Latin (reading ability)" and with the final icing on the cake with, "Basic Ancient Greek (reading ability)"

Wait, it keeps on truckin' with such high in demand specialized skills as, "Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, E-mail."

So desu ne...e-mail ga josu desu ne........sugoi. Rolling Eyes

To be honest, you might impress more people with this at the top of your CV:

Food: Chopsticks (handling ability)

Indeed no masters, Phd or Japanese...that is the truth and I do not deny that...so Eikaiwa it is....while I am fluent in French, I am not a native speaker...however I am perfectly bilingual in German/English so that may be an option....I acknowledged canuck's Japan knowledge and also acknowledged his sexual urgency to insult people....game, set match...

Just trying to help but you're obviously not getting what you want to hear, even though it's the truth. Seriously, young chap, you need to edit your CV. Maybe it's tatoo fear playing with your brain before coming to Japan.

It's really not that cool and way over Dave's 80 pixel limit. Why don't you just crop it down using Photoshop or a free paint program. Resize it.

And, pray tell, how did you arrive at that assumption? Amazing how things get miscontrued on this board.
