| I'm not sure if getting a CELTA is in order for someone with no degree. The most he can stay is 18 months on a WHV. After that, what? If his plans are to teach ESL back home, ok, then the CELTA will be worthwhile. Otherwise, what kind of teaching work do WHV holders get in Japan? No HS jobs. No university work. Maybe eikaiwa, private lessons, and some business English work if they are lucky (and ambitious). I don't usually recommend any TEFL certification unless there is a possibility that a person is going to be in this long term. Teaching eikaiwa certainly doesn't require any teaching theory, and spending money and time on a CELTA seems overkill for the OP's situation. |
