| Is it really only 120 a month for satellite? I thought it was much more than that - you pay that much or more for DSL. Maybe I thought it was more because I factored in the installation costs and (returnable?) deposit? |

| ntropy, Onspeed works fine. Never had anything blocked in 2 years. How do they do it? Beats me. I don't even know how the can opener works! |

Van Norden,
With Onspeed, how does simply speeding up the connection get past the censor? Looking at their website, it seems it just compresses and makes the connection load faster. Wouldn't the censor still BLOCK the sites? |

I've heard decent things about The Onion Router (or Tor), and I believe it's more less designed for the kinds of issues you're facing.
It's put together by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. You can read about it on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(anonymity_network) or go direct to their site at http://www.torproject.org/index.html.en
I don't actively use it living here in the US but it seems to be favorably viewed by people living in other parts of the world where internet access can be more problematic. |

Is it possible to get eurosport in Saudi, and failing that do the sport channels show 'Champions League soccer' etc...?
What about Olympic competions, which often show scantily clad females in all kinds of exertions (running, jumping, throwing, etc...). Would the Beijing Olympic games be blocked because of those haram ways the foreign athletes dress (short shorts and very revealing vests?).

Satellite TV is not interfered with. Internet sites can be blocked through ISP's which are in KSA - but not TV reception !
Most of the sports fans that I know here pay for one of the packages withy lots of sports channels - Orbit or Showtime. There are others. |

| In 2004 Olympic sports were available on Lebanese channels which weren't blocked. I remember my students telling the class about how fantastic women's beach volleyball was. They weren't interested in the game, just the bikini clad players. |
