Perhaps you could PM me then? Like you said in your postings, it's natural for teachers to be concerned with salary issues. I think being aware of what universities pay can have both personal and communal benefits. Personal benefits are obvious, but collectively I would guess that it strengthens our negotiating position as instructors. Turning a blind eye to salary issues probably promotes an institutional collusion. As it stands, there is already a great deal of downward pressure on foreigner salaries, both full-time and part-time. Why make it easier for universities to offer lower salaries by shunning critical information? Pooling information probably allows the higher-paying universities to attract more applicants, allowing them to choose better applicants, and encouraging other schools to offer similar packages if they want to acquire similarly qualified instructors.
Anyway, my long-winded point is that I think sharing salary info is natural, and I'd be interested in hearing what you know. Can you share? |

Why wouldn't people be concerned with salaries? If I am going to do the same kind of work at different places, I would prefer to work at the ones that pay better. And there are big differences from school to school. Sometimes enormous differences.
Some people will say "it's not about the money, it's about being happy..." I've heard all that crap before. Actually, that might even make sense in some situations. But when you're working p/t at different places, the more the merrier. And if you're not happy somewhere but they pay extremely well, not sure about you, but that alone will make me like the place!
I still chuckle at people who whine and complain about having to work hard to get ahead in life like the P.Hs of the world. Perhaps that's why he's back in NZ looking to try and start a new career in his late 40s with no direction. People like that never seem to work out in any field in society because they are always looking for the easy way in life. Easy f/t jobs at some Japanese universities where you can sit in your office, post on these forums all day long and pretend to work. Then doing the "phony minister" wedding ceremonies on weekends to earn additional money because teaching more classes (in his field) would be considered too "taxing" for him. |

Ah, the real reason Cappuck started this thread. What a sick duck....
Chris21, ads for part-time work posted to JRECIN often include salary per koma, so you might want to check there. However, the reality is that national and public universities all pay pretty much the same. There is some variation among private universities, but not by much. Hence, if you know the salary at one school, you'll pretty much know the salary everywhere.
Finally, it's been pretty obvious from Capper/Puck/Cappuck's posts over the years that he's never had a university job in his life. (Some epic mistakes in now deleted threads gave him away....) Indeed, I doubt he even has a job now.
Cappuck, hug your mother for me and tell her that you love her. After all, she's the one giving you shelter, food, and internet access. Bless her...especially for that last bit. |

taikibansei,
Thanks for the insights... after reading your post and talking to a few people around here, it does indeed seem that koma rates are pretty standard.
Cappuck,
Still waiting on your contribution to this pt salary list (which I'm certain will never come). Do as I say, don't do as I do, right? |

Chris, don't waste your time. There is a reason why capper and PUCK were banned. This is cappuck's third go'round. He is basically another version of Keith_W_Allen.
Typical garbage as follows...
