Buur doesn't work at HCT, that's for sure.
No, but for some bizarre reason he's desperate to.
Non, mais quelque en soit la raison, il est obsede par la possibilite d'y obtenir un poste....and I am hopelessly monolingual. |

| Rational response or self justification for unethical behavior? All colleges have people like this person and unfortunately the real victims of such behavior are the students. I would guarantee that an analysis of this persons student results would indicate a significantly lower success rate than equivalent teachers. What a parasite. In another profession e.g. engineering buildings would be falling down, but in education these people get away with it. |

Congratulations for such a pious, sanctimonious response. I can imagine utterly humourless and colourless it must be to have you as a colleague. You couldn't be more wrong either. My effectiveness as a teacher has never been in question. |

That murky area called ethics again. Let's remember that unethical behaviour is alive and well in all working spheres and beyond in life to varying degrees including, in education, amongst teachers, their managers and, yes, even students. If the assessment were truly scientific, then evidence of affected teaching via poor results etc. might come through, but it very often doesn't. So, no 'guarantees' there. The ones to be wary of most are those who are really covert, 'clever' or downright corrupt. |

| I too am less than impressed with self-righteous schoolmarms who engage in ad hominem character assassination. ckhl was merely employing satirical hyperbole to illustrate what a mess the HCT administration is (such as using underqualified cronies as line supervisors instead of true academics as "deans" in the Western sense). |

Is it possible that our humourless, sanctimonious poster obviously lacks the ability to discern the nuances of various rhetorical styles? It beats verbiage. |

Huh? Your most recent posting appears to contradict the pious one that came before. Are we low on cogent rebuttals, drawing from what rancid cheap shots remain? |

The number of negative comments about HCT from current teachers, etc, is extreme, but yet they continue to work for a company they detest. How sad really. When one thinks about how short ones life can really be, that people would stay in such terrible situations. Is money so important at the end of the day? I've seen so many good people here become cynical and cold hearted. Teachers complain about behavior problems with "adult" students, rude behavior, Arabic teachers letting them get away with doing whatever they like...and teachers being told to "makeup" grades..."just pass them all, it'll make us look bad if students fail, who cares if they didn't pass exams or did nothing to improve themselves, so long as their bodies were in the classroom, just pass them damn it!" I know this goes on mostly with Adjunct teachers being told to appease students, lie, etc, but sources tell me HCT fulltimers are just as bad, they just don't care anymore. So where do the companies, such as Adnoc, come in here? Since the students don't improve, do the companies who've paid tons of money to HCT just not care about quality? It seems many people just continue to stab one another in the back at HCT...it's a shame really. ARen't we all here for the same reason, to work, maybe save a bit of money, enjoy good winter weather,...so why is it that so many instructors are so adamant to backstab or get in good with the "powers that be", instead of working together. It'd benefit all involved, including maybe even student progress. Let's face it, as lazy as some of the Emiratis may be, they're not that stupid as to not notice teachers who are unhappy...it all rubs off.........
We all know of many people who are working at HCT, some even in management positions who don't hold Master's Degrees. This has led to much bitterness amongst staff members. But guess what? At the end of the day, they're still making more money than you, they'll have their jobs for as long as they like...as stated earlier, just keep quiet, don't bite the hand that feeds you... no, life isn't fair at times, and God knows some of the people HCT has workingin high positions and definately some of their instructors, would NOT be in those positions in their own countries. They just happened to get in at the right time....good luck to them... |

| Count me out as one of those who supposedly complain about HCT but still work there. I left for greener pastures in 2002. |

| Sorry to disappoint but it's actually the opposite ... there's no 'maybe' and no 'a bit' about the savings I'm here to amass ... with no prospect of decent savings I'd sooner be elsewhere ... |

You've got that right...to the tune of salting away at least 50% of one's annual salary. |
