Thanks...there is no mention of any program in Poland, however. Somebody was talking about a "Frammington" program in Poland that was accredited by a Russian university. The site you gave us shows about 20 Framingham State College M.Ed. programs around the world in International Teaching (and one in ESL) so...I am still not convinced we're talking about Framingham. |

Scroll down it is there. Framingham State College offers a Master's in Education. It is not in ESL. |

There is no such thing as a program in Poland accredited by a Russian university. This does not make sense on many levels. The program with Framingham State College in Poland may not be that good but to say that some program is accredited by a Russian university really shows how little the OP knows. A college cannot accredit a university. Only an accrediting board can accredit a university. I will warn you that there have been some complaints about the program with Framingham. I think the major complaint was about the ability of the directors to find jobs for the participants. You can try to find the complaints on here but that can be difficult because the search function on Daves often does not work well. |

Yes, I know it's not in ESL. Most of the overseas Framingham programs are in International Teaching. It's quite a surprise to see a small regional state university in the States--we can call it a university, since they do have a graduate school in addition to the bachelor degrees--start offering M.Ed. degrees in 15 or 20 countries around the world. Looks way overstretched and overambitious to me, at least at first glance. I went to Shippensburg State College in Pennsylvania as an undergrad, and I'm glad to note that my beloved alma mater sticks to what it's good at, and has some notable alumni to boot: the suspense writer Dean Koontz; General Tommy Franks, who got his master's there, and Jean Shaheen (the first woman governor of New Hampshire). |

Having just finished a two-week session of the course in question, I can say that the quality of the instruction was quite good. The professors were highly qualified and quite good. (Coffman and Gordon, in case you want to look them up on the framingham site.) The pace was a bit grueling toward the end, as 8 hours a day in the classroom wears you down a lot more than you would think.
Yes, a couple of years ago the program had some trouble -- it was run by a shifty school. But the program has been taken over by new management. So whatever happened 2 years ago has limited applicability now. |

If you go to this site, you can check out all the places where Framingham offers degrees. |
Framingham also has two M.A. programs available in Korea.
One for the MA in International Education and another for a M.A. in TESL.
The TESL one is having an orientation this September, and courses will begin in February for the two year program.

The first TESL M.A. in Korea, although Framingham has been offering them in other countries for awhile now. |

For Australians, you can do a coursework [but not research] masters for free through an Australian university.
Free that is until you're earning a reasonable Australian salary.
Of course, if you're plying your EFL trade in foreign places, that could mean never! |

Eslstudies, and one of those Aussie universities is University of New England- I am currently doing a Masters in Applied Linguistics, entirely by correspondence, full on work, online, good quality lecturers etc. No residence requirements whatsoever, so fits in very well with my work in China.
Quite happy with it too...chose this one because I got my undergrad there and was happy too |

Agreed Songbird. I didn't need a masters, but did a PG dip in TESOL through Macquarie, and I was very happy with it. I was in China the whole time. In fact, the way I read the rules you could even get Austudy while OS provided you enrolled while in Oz. BTW, have you caught up with the scandal at UNE re: Asian Masters students and plagiarism? I'm sure its a world wide thing. |

There is a trend, at least in the Gulf Middle East (where the money is) toward governments not accepting distance degrees. At the moment, distance MAs are still accepted in the education sector, as far as I know. |
