| In Yunnan, there are plenty of jobs in Kunming...as well as Dali and Lijiang I imagine. Probably some in Chuxiong. I studied in Yuxi, just south of Kunming, at Yuxi Teacher's College, and there may be teaching positions available there. There were a few Christians there doing their thing. Mengzi, more south of Kunming, also has a teachers college...or a "sizhuan" that had a few foreigners...teachers I believe--that's if you really want to get away from it all...get away from other foreigners that is...none around for miles. I don't know how many other places in Yunnan have the money to afford foreign teachers. Maybe the lonely planet "Southwest China" Yunnan section will give you the major cities and Yunnan and you could do a web search from there. |
This post is misleadingly (disingeniously?) gushing with optimism! There are NOT so many jobs in Kunming, and what jobs there are that are not taken up by FTs are illegal ones where you are bound to be shafted and exploited and jerked around.
Also in the Dali region (including Xiaoguan) you won't get a letgal job either. And pay, must we return to this side topic? - is NOWHERE NEAR what the OP asked for! |
Step, when op mentioned salary, it was regarding "other industry sectors in China", not teaching. Maybe "plenty" was a little too optimistic, regarding teaching jobs in Yunnan, but legal jobs from real schools do exist. If Kunming is really that bad for teaching jobs, where else would you suggest someone look for a teaching job outside of a major, coastal, polluted, city? |
