| No Jim, I am sure you don't. But I find it hard to believe that you don't consume more than one or two ounces of alcohol a day. That, and for someone who is counting calories the way you are, one beer would certainly throw a spanner into the works. How many empty calories are there in a beer anyway? |

If the page displays correctly, that's the data for one can of beer (12 fl oz). I rarely drink more than 2, and I don't drink every day.
I also do tend to factor in those calories when I calculate my intake... But the same goes for calories from other beverages -- i.e. milk or orange juice (which I drink a lot of every day). |

The main problem for me with the labels is not reading the basic Japanese words for wheat and dairy, which I'm allergic to, but all the permutations of extracts, derivatives, combinations and such of those allergens. In English I thought I was pretty up on the chemical names, but here it's hard to eat anything packaged. By the way, thanks to Canuck2112 for those names of ingredients. No way I would have figured out the one for salt; here I was looking for "shio".
If anyone has found a website translating the names of ingredients, it would be a huge public service if they were to put up the url. |
