More than one of us told you that the first step to resolving your visa issue was to get your inattentive ass to the local police station, Nathaniel.

I suggest you do your own research

Yes, that is YOUR responsibility, not ours...we can only offer what we know. And we don't need to take you by the hand and guide you through every little detail, as conditions vary from one city to the next (i.e. too much detail might turn up inaccurate in your particular case)

That was my point, no one knew what was actual simple common knowledge, and if I go by the logic of many posters here, it was info that most long timers here "should" have known, and been happy to share. Wink

As to telling me to go to the local police station, that advice was wrong, so saynig you told me that repeatedly, or others did, just means that more bad advice was given.

It is the local Exit and Entry Burea for the district you live in that you must go to. Yes, it is manned by the PSB, but it is not a police station at all, and handles all visa matters. Oh, and if someone who posted earlier says "Thats what I meant, same thing" to save face, I would say "you" need to eb a lot more specific, because you can not get any visa issues of any kind handled at any police station. Not an extension, nothing, you must go to the Exit and Entry Burea assigned to the ae in which you live.

It's not surprising actually that most here, especially the long timers, don't know this stuff, most of you never have had to handle your own visa matters, I should have thought of this before I asked. Whats truly sad is all the people here who have had to make completely un-necessary trips to hong kong, or hire expensive agents. New visa cost 165 yuan. It's a shame there is so much knowledge lacking on this sight in regards to visa issues. Sad

Oh and Malsol, it's "You do not read so well" not "read so good" talk about irony, making such obvious mistakes when instructing someone else to read better, LOL, sorry, but I had to point that one out.

Well, take care all.

I wonder why that fine upstanding poster WordUp - you know the guy who always advertises his visa service on these forums has never contributed to this thread - after all shouldn't a guy like him, with an expert knowledge of visa issues, be chaffing at the bit when there is chance of posting on his special subject - you know a positive and non-commercial act being done in the spirit of spreading FT well-being Laughing

NR, remember, you never told us what type of visa you were renewing or your circumstances.
With vague information people can only give vague advice.

Hey Neanderthal man - you go to the local PSB. We need to also give you the department name and address? The local PSB will get you to the right department. It may be in the same building or not, depends.

Frankly, you are offensive.

Exit and Entry in Shanghai is in Pudong, a separate facility.

In many small towns it is not in a separate building. Where I am it is on the 3rd floor of the local PSB building.

We did not know; or you did not ask an intelligent question?

I will never bother to answer any of your inquiries. It seems that you may think you are smarter than everyone else here, but I got news for you. You have alienated far more than necessary.

As I look back at the OP and your smart a$$ condescending responses, I tend to think you knew the answer from the beginning and played us.

If it smells like a troll, acts like a troll, walks like a troll, and sleeps under bridges, it is probably just Neanderthal Man.

I rarely take offense as a result of posts here at Dave's. In fact, I can't remember ever getting so worked up as I am right now?

I saw the following in another thread:

Malsol, for someone who rarely takes offense, you sure seem to have.

As for Bayden, I was speaking of three visa types if you remember, and asked for advice on all three, in the hopes that it would help different people here with different things.

As to your accusation that I never named a specific visa, I actually named three, it makes no different, since one must go to the same place to get all three which I named.

Malsol again, a lot of responses from someone not upset, posters said specifically to go to the PSB, local PSB, and have it done there. Nothing more was said, to split hairs now to try and save face for yourself or others being wrong is childish, and transparent.

I did not ask an intelligent question? I do not get the distinction, a simple question lacks intellect? Asking about three things instead of one is lacking in intellect? I would like to know what cnotext you are placing questions in to rate them so. I have found others using such subjective logic to describe things as something they are not, or spin them how they wish to. I certainly did not ask any dumb questions. I did not realise we were discusing splitting the atom, or Platos theories on reality and perception. From your point of view it seems, questions are rated on some form of sliding scale, which only you seem to know about.

Knew the answer from the beginning and played you? Um, ok, that is rather paranoid thinking, and outlandish. Is saying something like that intelligent?

Neanderthal man, accusations of dissembling and deception based upon pure paranoia and speculation. You do these things and call other people trolls, um, ok.

Take care all.

Not much in the way of helpful info was offered, and I honestly think the ones who posted negativety, don't have any real answers.
Honestly, aren't you glad they've posted on? Keep coming with your real answers and that "positivity". You are a helpfully honest man.

From the stated cost (160 rmb) it is safe to assume that the visa was only an L or an F visa, because a Z visa is much more expensive and you cannot obtain them legally in China, unless you are in a province that allows you to change an L or F into a Z (and I don't know of any that do this, but others have posted that it is possible so I take them at their word as I have not tried in evry province). And in actuall fact, in china you do not extend a Z visa as there is no expiry date - it is only valid for 30 days after entering china, whereupon you must obtain a residence permit, which is extendable at the local psb entry and exit bureau.
In going by Nathan Trolls previous posts, if they are to be believed, he is currently working in Wuhan doing private tutoring because his job disappeared when he arrived there - leading him to find an assistant on the street who is helping him to do privates. This would indicate that he has no sponsor for his F visa, and must be working illegally on an L visa.

As do I adamsmith, I only have one name as well.

You are wrong on all of your assumptinos, but then again, thats why they are assumptions, one makes an ass out of themselves when they make them.

It is nice that you have queired and went through all of my posts within the past month, if only some here put that kind of time into their research they would be much more helpful, and accurate.

Thanks for the insight adam, though it is misplaced. Many things change for a person, this is why one sould not assume. Presumption is the precursor of arrogance.

And to CJ, "Mickeys Dog"? Must so many who are kind off forum jump on the proverbial band wagoin and become trolls on forum. Thats just very rude, what a shock. Point proven again, do not be kind off then insulting on forum, it is disingenuous.

As you all can see, those who call others troll, if you read their posts, throw outright insults at those they have the nerve and audacity to themselves call trolls, though I have done no such thing to them. I think this just goes to show who the real trolls are.

Take care all.
