Never tried that but I can give a good word for Pimsleur. I've never done the Japanese one but i've done some of the Chinese one and it was great preperation for my trip to Beijing this summer. Has anyone evr done whole of a pimsleur course?

i believe their is a link to the pimsleur torrent on the forum. do a search if you are interested in giving it a go.

not promoting the illegal use of it - try it out and if you like it purchase it

If you're on JET then you get to study Japanese by likely living in an area with zero other English speakers. Speak Japanese or don't speak at all (or at least don't speak and expect to be understood in the least).

Self study combined with living in Japanese will increase your Japanese a lot.

Get copies of the Genki series.
