I worked for a school in Cambodia where the boss was the owner of a prime piece of real estate. She didn't give a hoot about the quality of the teachers so long as they looked ok, showed up and attracted students.
The building was her main concern, and the school was just a business to make some money. That was obvious. One of the teachers was pedophile (now serving a major sentence); when other teachers complained about his suspect activities and his being alone with students in the classroom, what did she do? NOTHING. The teacher was an asset (and a rare one to boot, at that time), just like the building. Why ruin a good thing? She was Chinese Cambodian. |
