I would avoid it. It is far from paradise and there are better places to spend your money. In the 'Paradise' you will have two sorts of company:
1) Roaches (the big black ones).
2) The noise of screaming passion coming through the paper thin walls. It's main trade is as a 'short time' hotel.

The happy family hostels are absolutely the last resort and you would be well advised to steer very very clear of them IMHO. You would be much cleaner sleeping in the park.
Taipei Hostel is a direct 10 minute walk from Taipei Main Station and is a better bet than happy family for sure. Its off Lin Shen North Road.
You can find a whole range of accomodation for the same price you would pay in a hostel so put up with it for a month and get yourself an apartment, there are plenty out there.
The YMCA is certainly nice enough to stay in but the last time I was there they charged me �48 a night which was prohibitive on my salary. |
