I do not understand this modern fashion for 'Quiz Nights". I would pay money NOT to go to one.

Hope you'll be gathering for the Eurovision Song Contest on the 12th - not on BBC Prime this year so no Terry Sad

Yes - anyone thinking of coming to Bahrain - this is it for entertainment - quizzes and Eurovision....

For my nights out I think I will stick to my theological discussions with the mutawwa in Saudi. More fun.

Do you think we might me frightening people away from coming to Bahrain???? They'll probably be thinking it's the most boring place in the world. Which of course it isn't - especially as Dar Island is now advertising itself (and its waterslide) as being a great tourist destination....

I recall one memorable night in Hafr Al Batin just over four years ago when I went to a party (men only of course) and spent a few hours discussing Catholic confession with a number of Mutawwin, among other theological matters.

One of the best nights out I ever had in Hafr Al Batin!!

Seriously, it was a most fascinating experience, and I am actually in contact with one of those guys still. They are a lot more curious than many give them credit for. I am actually very embarrassed about one thing: they knew a lot more about the Christian bible than I did, even the new testament.

Never a dull moment in the ME, I say.
