[quote] Herr Kant hat mal die Frage gestellt: Was ist Aufklrung?
So why the German, including a reference to Kant, if not a pretentious gesture aimed at demonstrating your acquaintance with another language and with continental philosophy. I guess I should be impressed, but it's just not happening for me...

Ouch! (not)
Somebody's clearly feeling just a tad defensive, no? |

Hmmm....still waiting....
Running away from the question are we? O Mistress of the English Language, wouldst thou enlighten us all? |

| I would love to hear your esteemed, indeed expert opinion, on matters of English syntax, which as can be adduced by your rich and well informed comments, surpasses all others on this board. |
This does seem a tall order...which aspects of English syntax are you interested in? Still, if Cleopatra's comments surpass all others on this board, why not simply hide your envy! Lovin' all that German. It shows you've mastered not one, but TWO languages! |

You mean this question:
| Quote: |
| Is the infallibility bit in your signature a reflection of your opinion about your own inimitable sense of style in the English language? |
That's easy. The answer is no.
But do going on swallowing dictionaries and showing off your 'knowledge' of another European language. It only serves to remind us all of your silly attempt to defend that howler of a 'sentence' you wrote on the thread you got locked. The only way you are impressing people is by your ability to make us all laugh - at your expense, of course.
But while we're at it, I have a question for you: Why do you hang out on boards when you have no interest or experience in working in the country concerned? |

You were supposed to show us all your expertise. That is what I wante to see but your last question is relevant. As for why I hang out here; I have a concern with religions and you seem to be Islamic apologists, indirectly supportive of mediaeval practises that a civilised person should find barbaric...and thus I am curious how this has come to be...by the way, how's your Arabic?
