I used ANESL to find a university job in another province, as it's difficult to get contact info for distant uni's oneself. They have high paying positions, though these are usually in larger cities. Regarding 6 months contracts - my experience has been that nobody likes to offer such a short contract, but if a teacher who has signed a 1 year contract leaves after 6 months with proper notice (at least 1 month) they're happy. Regarding regions: I know Guangzhou is huge, dirty, but Chinese, Shenzhen is large, cleaner though polluted and modern and Hong Kong's a day trip away.
