Working in The Desert Environment provides stimulation to discover ways to amuse themselves/others, remain sane and post something on blogs and diaries. It really is a barren wasteland.

A top geezer I worked alongside in The Desert loved windsurfing and snowboarding. Such activities are impossible in Riyadh. He brought over a skateboard.

Most of the time schools were vague about exactly when teachers' vacations were to be taken, BUT one time we negotiated staggered summer breaks of one month each.

Geezer calculated to the exact number, HOW MANY SECONDS until he could go back to Sydney.

Don't know why, but for some reason I can't help but suspect that said 'geezer's' hapless colleagues and students were doing precisely the same thing.

Transpired wasn't quite enough.
The following morning he picked up a Bic and wrote,

Howdy, Saudi.
Lift the veil.
What goes behind ?
This be our jail.

... and started to compose a list of Saudi's virtues.

T'was epigrammatically written.

Good place for starting in the egg timer business; many varieties of sand.
