I appreciate the suggestions so far. I've traveled quite a bit and have always ventured "off the beaten track". However, this time I'll have my wife and son with me and only two days.
I asked for recommendations because I want to eat and experience "authentic" Mexico City and celebrate my birthday.
Because I've traveled before I know I can find good things at the nicer hotels, but as I mentioned, I like to get away from the hotels because I KNOW great places exist that "regular" people go to.
Thelmadatter, if you would like, maybe we can meet up for our birthday.
Keep the good ideas and opinions coming.
By-the-way, I live in Haeundae, Busan, South Korea - 4 million people and really the International center of the city, so I can understand how difficult it is for you to give one specific place to visit.
I've written down Garibaldi and Cafe de Tacuba so far. |

| if by touristy you mean foreigners in hawaiian shirts with fanny packs. (sorry to anyone from the UK, i can't remember what you call them) |
Bum bags (I think!) I've been out of England too long!
If you're not from the colonies & don't know what fanny means in the UK, ask a Brit or check a good Larousse!!! |
