| Is it possible for her to report the boss if she did get caught by the police? Are there any bad things that happen to the people that hire people on L visa's, seems like there shoudl be. |

They get to take the local PSB boys out to dinner and then to the swankiest KTV in town, buy all the expensive liquor the boys care to drink, persuade a few local lovelies to come and spend some quality time with the boys, buy some expensive cigarettes and stuff the cigarette packages with pink wrapping paper, and have a good time paying for it all.
Or, as cj puts it, they get to pay a fine.
Either way, compare their options to your own. |

yea, payin the fine...
Recently, as I reported in another post, a school in Beijing was raided..due to a tip given by either one of their Foreign teachers or a Chinese teacher, alerting the authorities to the situation of Foreigners working on F visas....aparently the school thought it was with in the legal guidelines because of it's method of payment..they were found in violation and paid a fine...the teachers were not fined or made to leave the work unit...they went back to work the next day...still on the "F"....the school has currently changed the payment method to sending pay to banks overseas (which the foreign teacher can access through bank machines)and now management feels that they are complying with the law... |

A sincere best of luck, buddy. You'll be tough as nails when you return home, and that will only help you with your future.
Cheers |

Well, I left my school in Aojiang. I told the school that my visa was about to expire and I needed to leave for Shenzhen to get a new one. They offered to get the Visa for me, and said they would do it the next morning. I met with a friend of mine who works in the local government office. I told him that the school was about to take me to the police station to get my visa. He said "dude , the police station can't get your visa. I think they are tring to trick you" He said he would check for me, and sure enough they were lying.
I had a job offer in Zhanjiang and the school offered to pay for my flight to Shenzhen. I left the next morning and slept in a hotel. When I arrived in Zhanjiang they found out my TESOL that my previous school printed for me was fake, and they said that they couldn't hire me.
So I went back to Shenzhen and stayed with a friend, the former teacher who was fired from my previous school.
Then I volunteered at a school for 500 (paid weekly) living stipend, living quarters, a F visa, and paid for TEFL course. I was desperate my visa was going to expire in a week. In 2 weeks they gave me the new visa but they didn't pay for the TEFL so I left..
Now I'm working for a training school that has been open for only 8 months. I'm the only foreign teacher there. I only teach on the weekends, and I get 7000 a month. I do office hours wed-fri 5 to 9 just so they can show the new parents that the school has a foreign teacher.
The down side is that they want to tax my salary every time a parent complains or even if I look at them wrong. |

Reading a story like that makes me wonder - what style of FT do I prefer most - the backpacker or the OAP |

FTs stories are their experiences with chemployers that often abuse contractual agreements...i think that we should give it some respect if they are backpackers or not
i am unsure if this is meant to be sarcastic or not ...yes, there are some stories, aren't there?
many FTs with their tough chexperiences have only internet to lean on, since chinese judicial system doesn't provide 'em with much of a support
peace to our forums
and
cheers and beers to FTs that've been able to get over their tough chexperiences |

What came first the egg or the chicken???? The above comment does make one ponder over the possibility that the Chinese employer can get away with so much, precisely because so many FT's come from the "backpacker/OAP zone" - the in and out quickly folk who's economic agenda lies closer to securing some pocket money rather than a meaningful salary!!! Where does the concept of respect fit into this picture - respect for the victim or maybe that employer who has a bigger shinier car than me??? Where does respect for the real job of teaching lie in this equation |

The PSB do issue visas, or to be specific, issue RPF's or extend L visas and are the only people who can do it. If I am not wrong, they can issue F visas too, right?

Are you saying the previous school'd told you they would issue you a TESOL if you'd complete certain number of teaching hours for them? What exactly does the TESOL say and why would it be fake (unless it's a fake Trinity TESOL)?

OK...so why would/should they pay for your TEFL certificate? You are not making sense here. Is it a TEFL certificate/diploma or the Trinity Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages diploma?

Again, unless I am wrong or unless things have changed in the last couple years, schools that are under a year old can not hire FT's because they are not allowed to apply for the license to have FT's until they have been in operation for at least a year. Therefore, you are, technically speaking, working illegally.

Time to pack up unless you want to take any more abuse. |
