I feel for you, I can understand. Some schools don't deserve to have any foreign teachers. Two months salary? wow, that's a lot. They shouldn't be able to get away with it. It's much the same here at HUNAN WOMEN'S COLLEGE IN CHANGSHA. It's the biggest disaster you've ever seen. We are living in a hostel because our apartment building started to collapse. no phone, internet access. i can only call others in the hostel. lol.

They also owe me a travel allowance from winter break and are usually at least one month late with salary. I am willing to bet i'll never see the travel allowance or plane fare reimbursement. Or even the inside of my aparment again.

The most frustrating part is all the lies with such a straight face you wouldn't believe it.

I hope you get your money. thanks for posting, i'll stay clear of that place.

patsy, why not cut your losses now and leave that place you're at? by sticking around you're saying to the school "yeah, i'll put up with intolerable conditions."

This sounds like they are usually over one month late on your pay... you have a SAFEA contract?

Check into mediation...although ..it is not binding on either party..sometimes it can be used to exert pressure...it will not be easy as some claim..but it is a direction ...again do not get your hopes up..

as to plane fare..and travel allowance..this is the vehicle that many registered/unregistered schools use to short change you...if you have problems with a school....it is a good guess that you will not see this..I would never sign a contract that incl. these amides or add ons..always choose employment with "cash" and in that way your never caught up in this "reinversement" scam...

as to housing..unless it is on campus..the school Will claim no responsibility...and you may have to seek redress in court..but not being sure what the responsibilities of the rental property is..you would have to consult a lawyer...

I've discovered the grass is greener! Start afresh BUT make sure you get a 'Letter of approval' from where you are now.

These tales tug at the heartstrings, but please, show some condensation on a mirror....Everybody, band together and don't LET this happen in the first place. If suspicions arise, GET PAID WEEKLY, especially if you are being paid below 8000y monthly, and, unfortunately, if you are that "Native speaker from CAN,US,GB,NZ,AUS"...
