Thanks!
(if you notice the other shipping rates for shipping big boxes of things, that would be nice to know as well...)

so how much will it cost to ship your stick?

Quibby,

I finally got around to sending it this afternoon. It was 1500 Yen for airmail. Not too expensive, but it only weighed 470 grams.

bornslippy did you just wrap it and write and address on it, or did you have to put it in some kind of box?

I used a lot of bubble wrap and gum tape.

When I finished, I realized I should've taped something to the stick itself, but didn't want to unwrap it all.

At the post office, they put the delivery info on the bubble wrap.

It should arrive Monday, I hope.

I wish I had bought one of those stupid things when I went to mount fuji. Looks like I'm going to have to go back all over again.

I thought I'd already posted this, so sorry if it's late.

The Japanese postal service has an English phone number. Hopefully you are already using this (unless, of course, you speak Japanese) to arrange for delivery of packages--as opposed to trekking down to the central office and lugging them back home.

Anyway, when I was leaving Japan, I called that number and the woman spent a really long time going over all of the shipping options and costs for packages of various sizes and weights.

Just as an(other) aside, they also came to my apartment and picked everything up as I had over a certain amount of packages (I only sent six in total, so it's at least that low). The yuubinkyoku effing rocks!!!

I'm sorry I don't have the number anymore, but I imagine it'd be fairly easy to track down.

I was hoping this thread was going to be about Mr. Fuji's Walking Stick...

Oh, my God! That sounds awesome! I want to see one of those SO bad! (I wish there was a smiley to express my sentiments, but the happy ones look kind of perverted, and I'm going for childish delight...)

It would have been very topical... Mr. Fuji was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last weekend!

Check out "Fuji Vice" and "Fuji Bandito" on YouTube... he wasn't just a wrestler and wrestling manager... he was also an accomplished thespian!

BANZAI!

I remember when I climbed Mt Fuji last year, a few of my old school friends misread it and thought I'd climbed Mr Fuji. Confused

I also was asked a lot of times if I saw Mr Fuji while I was there.

I got word from my parents today that my walking stick arrived home yesterday safe and sound. No cracks, and the bubble wrap was in tact.

I'll use the stick in a steel cage match with Mr. Fuji when I return home in two weeks.

Enjoy,

B
