You ask if Taiwanese girls are hot becasue you need affection, fair enough, but sleezy when you write on another forum (Japan) that you are currently with marriage-minded girlfriend.

Actually, they don't have beer in Taiwan! I couldn't believe it! Confused

Is that 60K before or after taxes?

How can there not be any beer in Taiwan? I thought almost every contry had beer, if not domestic, at least imported. You're telling me that you can't even find a bottle of Tsingtao on Formosa?

There seems to be this thinking that the job market is saturated. I don't buy that at all.

Yeah! What LS said. I keep hearing the same thing about job shortages but I just don't see it. Maybe it's a little saturated --I mean, 10 years ago, people used to approach me on the street:

"Hey, do you want to work at our buxiban?"
"Can you tutor my little girl?"
"Can you help coach our sales department?"
"Do you want to be my boyfriend and teach me English?"

Now these opportunities have all but dried up; now I just get "assigned" these positions from my school (except for that last one). Confused

That's kinda my point..It's getting that way (saturated) and only seems to be getting worse, I had a hell of a time getting a job here as I went through multiple interviews employers from all over, and I am pretty well qualified IMO-3 yrs chinese language, 4 yr degree(not fake), US citizen, 1 yrs experience teaching in TW and not that it should matter in any way(but it's TW)-I'm a young white male. Moreover, the job situation I have now is not what I desired and/or expected, but then again I'm in Taipei-pretty competitive up here. Guess I'm not trying to really to turn people off, just want to make sure everyone knows if you do come here-come prepared with money, correct visas and a concrete plan of action, don't want to people to go through what I went through.

I'm looking for a job right now in Taipei and I've had a similarly rough experience, although I'm an ABC and just starting out. I figured getting a job would be easy, but so far I've only heard back from places outside Taipei.

Everyone I know swears by Taiwan Beer but I never touch the stuff (or any booze, for that matter).

As for saving money in Taiwan, I've never had any problems with that. I often say Taiwan is one of the few countries where you can live as expensively or as cheaply as you want.

Keep objectifying women as sex objects and you'll be looking for "affection" in a place we call Lonelytown.

A lot of us are married or in committed relationships. So I take it personally when guys come along expecting easy "scores" with what amounts to be our sisters or nieces. Equally, I have made a lot of good friends through work here and would hate to see them "scored" upon by someone who is here to just get some.

I didn't feel that lonely when I was in Taiwan. Enthralled that you have the ability to keep all of the women of Taiwan abstaining from relations with whomever you deem unworthy...

Note to timmyjames-sleezy is a term for women. It's intention was never to be used with men, for a man cannot be sleezy....Just lucky!

Note to A'Moo - Lucky is not a term to be used with men. Men have relationships. Only the desperate losers (of either sex) have to get lucky!

What happened to "variety is the spice of life?"...The losers are the ones who need monetary instruments for, err, favours.

It's total crap - Worst bangers I've had since college drinking draft beer on cheap beer night.

Japanese beer is good.

Girls - Taiwan's greatest resource!

Not as sexy as the korean or japanes girls, however.
