How about placement agencies? (My work schedule, plus the fact that travelling to Torreon costs money makes just going down there a little bit difficult)

Any good companies that can help me get a j.o.b.? |

I don't think you need any company, they won't do anything that being on the ground in Torreon you can't do yourself. What you need is a good planning session. I don't know much about student loan payments, because I'm extrodianarily lucky to have been able to go to a decent school with lowish instate tuition and a father who really knows how to scrimp and save and started saving for my tuition before I was born. I wish all of you could have been so lucky, debt is hell. And don't even get me started on my opinions of a society that has made being in debt the normal state of most of its members. BUT I have learnt from reading this board that you can defer you payments is you are living in Latin American because it is seen as an economic hardship. If you search the general Latin American Forum you should find some posts about this.

The next step is to try, try try try, not to accumulate anymore dollar debt if you plan on living in peso land for a very long time. So is that MATESOL worth it? Will it put you further in debt with an unfavorable exchange rate? It would help you get a job at ITESM Torreon campus, but will you be paying it off for the next 20 years???

You have to make the decisions, but you are asking us for advice, here what I think you should do.

Work two jobs in the US for the next few months.

Call your loan company and work something out.

Buy a VW bus and load up your prized possesions, sell off everything else.

Drive to Torreon.

Find a job, any job that will sponsor you for your VISA.

Through future in-laws network for private classes at around 100 an hour. Take as many privates as you can get or handle.

Network around town for a better paying job.

Decide if you have enough money to do a distance Masters with out taking out any additional loans.

Get married.

After 2 years married you can get citizenship.

Then you can do all privates if you wish as you will be well established.

Hope that your loan company has forgotten about you!

Live happily ever after in Mexico.

BUT you need to talk to the SO. Maybe she'd like to live in the US for a while? If so the plans have to be different.

Good Luck, what ever you decide. |
