If I only had the money to but time and take a mini trip to visit KH and Taichung, it would give me a better idea of what I like
It's the 60 days that scares me, as the closk ticks away.. |

KHH has cheap rent, depending on where in the city you want to live....my gf and I share a 1 bedroom, 2 floor loft apartment, and we pay $10000/mth....this is the view of KHH from our apartment at night...we are about 10 minutes outside of the city proper....
the Hi Speed Train is $1500 each way, and takes about 1.5 hrs from Taipei to KHH, so you can easily make a weekend visit, and drop off job apps while you are here....
taxis are cheap transport, and walking is barely a viable option....riding a bike is the only other real alternative to riding a scooter...which isnt really as bad as it seems once you get used to Taiwan traffic...the KMRT (subway) wont be open until Jan 08' and it will be limited when it does open |

Perhaps that can work. I do a day trip out to check out the scene. I've got a recruiter in Taichung and Taipei, and KH I'm sure I can line something up with my Dewey and KOJEN contacts?
I will make photocopies of my resume and hand them out..
How far its a bullet train Taipei to Taichung and is their a discount round-day trip? |

Is it true I can find a nice apartment close the downtown Taichung for 10,000NT all - inclusive?
at least 1 bedroom
kitchen
living room
western style bathroom
modern facilities washer and dryer
internet/phone Included
For a day trip, is it easy and cheap to get to Penghu beaches? I hear it's quite nice.
From Taipei to Taichung what is the cheapest and most effiecint way to get there? 700 NT bullet Train vs Bus? |

I've never seen any apartment that didn't have a "western style" bathroom. Actually, I see a lot more Western toilets lately than I see the "squatter" toilets. You'll only find those kind of toilets in the public restrooms or the older buildings.
Everything else you mentioned is easy to come by, the kitchen, the phone/internet. Having a washing machine in your apartment is pretty common too, but very rarely will you have a dryer. You might have to learn to hang your clothes on a clothes line. |
