I would think getting hired for any job would depend on your abilities as a teacher and your personal qualities, such as whether students would like you and want to be in the classroom with you. If you feel comfortable with yourself, then I don't know why employers or students wouldn't.

Perhaps that "obese" person Jetgirly was talking about was the best teacher, that's why she was hired first. I can't imagine that employers would be wanting to "compete" for male students' or parents' interest.

I've taught at three schools (two private, one community college) and found them to be EXTREMELY catty. You're lucky if you've managed to avoid that so far.
